The Adopt-a-Highway program gives groups the opportunity to help their communities by collecting litter and beautifying roadsides. This international program originated in Texas, where it remains one of the Lone Star State’s most successful public-private initiatives.

Keep Taylor Beautiful invites participation from the community to pick up litter as you exercise using the walking routes mapped and set out by the Williamson County Health and Human Services, "Just Move It" program.
Are you looking for an inexpensive project that can have a dramatic impact on your community, give you an immense sense of satisfaction and exercise, too?
Adopting a walking route in your neighborhood may be the answer.
All it takes is for you or your group to make a commitment to adopt a walking route. Most of the routes are ½ mile to 1 mile in length and right in your neighborhood. In this commitment, you agree to pick up litter at least four times a year for a two year period and if you pick up litter every time you walk it would be great You will also be asked to encourage others to join your effort by your example and to document the number of times you walk the route and amount of trash you pick up.
KTB will provide the safety tips, documentation card and Williamson County Health and Human Services "Just Move It" route map.
Contact us at Info@K-T-B.org to sign up and select a walking route that is right in your neighborhood!
With a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Keep America Beautiful has launched Clean Sweep U.S.A. , a web site designed to provide students, teachers and families with information about real-world issues concerning waste. The site, which is targeted to reach students in grades 7-9, contains resources related to garbage, source reduction, composting, recycling, waste-to-energy and landfills.
The new web site is based upon existing, proven Keep America Beautiful curricula and research materials, focusing on student learning in environmental responsibility, recycling and municipal waste management. The online modules are correlated to national education standards and provide education on how individuals can manage waste to reduce its impact on the environment. The six lessons use flash animation, gaming, fact-filled downloads and a strong mixture of graphics and waste management resources to provide teacher training and education.
Teachers will find specific pages for educators with ideas for web-directed research and in-class activities. They can download lesson plans and get teacher background information on garbage issues to help prepare for teaching the lesson.
